SGF-VCS

(accredited by SGF International e.V.)

SGF International e.V. (SGF) now operates a voluntary control system (VCS) for tank cleaning stations which offer food cleaning, hereby closing the control gap in the fruit juice supply chain. The scope of the VCS is the cleaning of tank cars, containers and intermediate bulk containers (IBC's) for liquid foodstuffs only.

In order to be certified, cleaning stations need to apply for associate SGF membership.

Application requirements are listed in the SGF VCS for tank cleaning (document DOC_022) and in the SGF audit checklist (document DOC_020) which are available for download from the public area of the SGF website:

www.sgf.org

Application is only recommended for cleaning stations which fulfil at least the following conditions:

  • A complete HACCP analysis must be available.
  • A suitable data monitoring and tracking system must be in place.
  • Food cleaning is performed solely with water compliant with EC directive 98/83.
  • Food cleaning bays are clearly separated from chemical cleaning bays.
  • Certification is not possible if these conditions are not fulfilled.

Cleaning stations which have applied for SGF membership can contact a certification body recognised and accredited by SGF to arrange for an audit in order to verify compliance with the SGF requirements.

SGF has outsourced the entire audit and certification process to AJA Registrars GmbH in Speyer, Germany. AJA Registrars is accredited for various ISO standards, including quality (ISO 9001), food safety (ISO 22000) and environment (ISO 14001), and has accredited auditors for SQAS (auditing system for chemical cleaning stations).

The actual audit and certification process is conducted by the certification body using internal or external qualified and trained auditors. SGF will be informed about the result and will upload audit reports and the certificate to the SGF member portal on successful certification. This information will then be visible for all SGF full members (IQCS, IRMA) and associate members (traders, transport companies and cleaning stations).

By expanding the network of SGF-certified cleaning stations in Europe we all work together to assure food quality and safety.
